Definition of blast furnace and low furnace
Blast furnace is the main equipment of iron and steel smelting, used to reduce iron ore to pig iron, which is one of the core technologies of modern iron and steel industry. Blast furnace is mainly composed of silo, bellows, furnace body, slag mouth, gas producer and so on.
The low furnace is the old technical equipment in the steel plant, also known as the open furnace, which is mainly used for the production of cast iron, alloy iron and molten steel, as well as intermediate products in the process of steelmaking. The low furnace consists of simple components such as the furnace body and lifting equipment.
Second, the difference between blast furnace and low furnace
1. Structural differences
The blast furnace is a kind of closed melting equipment, which is composed of the upper part, the middle part and the lower part, and the height is about 30 meters to 100 meters. The low furnace is relatively simple in structure, and the height is usually more than 5 meters, but generally no more than 15 meters.
2. Output variance
Blast furnaces mainly produce pig iron, cast iron, alloy iron and reshrunk iron and other products, while low furnaces mainly produce iron alloys and intermediate products in steelmaking.
3. Energy consumption difference
Because blast furnace production needs high temperature, high pressure and long time operation, its energy consumption is much higher than that of low furnace. In contrast, low furnaces consume less energy due to the relatively simple production process.
Third, the advantages and disadvantages of blast furnace and low furnace
1. Advantages of blast furnace
Pig iron adopts blast furnace smelting process, the product quality is good, the application range is wide, can be widely used in various iron and steel processing industry. At the same time, the blast furnace also has the advantages of large production capacity, strong adaptability of raw materials and mature technology.
2. Disadvantages of blast furnace
Blast furnace requires complex energy, raw material preparation and refining process, high production cost, serious environmental pollution, long operation cycle, need to spend a lot of money for construction and maintenance.
3. Advantages of low furnace
Compared with blast furnaces, low furnaces can be more flexible in the production of different types and specifications of ferroalloys, alloy iron and other products, but also has the advantages of low production costs, less environmental pollution, and short construction and operation cycles.
4. Disadvantages of low furnace
The production capacity of low furnace is relatively small, the product quality of output is unstable, the scope of application is narrow, and it can not cope with various large-scale production needs.
4. Application scenarios
Blast furnace and low furnace are suitable for different scenarios. For large and medium-sized iron and steel enterprises, factories and manufacturers with huge demand, the use of blast furnaces to produce pig iron and other serialized alloy iron, reshrunk iron and other products is the most sensible and practical choice. For some small-scale manufacturers with production costs as the main consideration, the use of low furnaces can make full use of its simple and convenient process flow to produce ferroalloys and intermediate products in steelmaking that meet market demand.
